Ponder time as ye may. Today's time matters most.
The past a tattered flag in the wind - tomorrow but a ghost.
In the fell circumstance I vow only an authentic self
Though I do aspire to greater power and greater health.
My will a phantom, God's word an ethereal thing
As each morning greets me, I'll see what it shall bring.
God is who He is. I am what I will be.
Nothing further to plan. Nothing more to see.
I ponder God in passing and yet study only the now.
Rains gather in the distance, yet I've fields to plow.
Today's glory lies before me; tomorrow but a dream.
Lord set me to my task beyond the things I may esteem.
An end to all my scheming. An end to my regrets.
I embrace only today. Fear not tomorrow's begets.
At this moment lies a challenge. It defies my very soul.
The horizon bleak but distant. Today has it's own toll.
So I rise though I am weary. Don my boots to aching feet.
Come now my strained sinews. A mark lies there to meet.
A silent peace adorns me. A tattered flag of glee.
What comes next will find an authentic, unchanged me.
